Unheard Voices

"This place has clearly been abandoned for a while... My task is clear however. I need to uncover the truth of what happened here."

For this project we were tasked with developing a game that sheds light on prevalent social issues. Unheard Voices addresses the critical social issue of gender-based violence (GBV), which remains pervasive in South Africa, despite legislative measures and societal efforts to combat it. GBV affects individuals of all genders and ages, with survivors often facing significant barriers in accessing support and justice. These challenges are further compounded by systemic issues and the social stigma surrounding survivors, highlighting the urgent need for awareness and intervention.

Unheard Voices offers players an immersive experience where they embody a spectral entity navigating the rooms of a woman's abandoned house. Through exploration and interaction, players uncover fragments of her past, piecing together the challenges she faced and the resilience she demonstrated.
